While Pastor Greg is away visiting family, Student Pastor, Micah Collins tells the story of Mary and he enduring act of worship.  After Jesus' resurrection of Lazarus, Mary is moved to worship the Lord extravagantly by pouring an expensive jar of perfume out in devotion to Christ.  The event is an example for all of us who desire to worship authentically and from the heart.  This teaching was presented on Sunday, June 5, 2016.  This podcast is a ministry of First Baptist Church of Bogalusa, La.  Thank you for listening!

While Pastor Whaley is away leading the church's annual Alaska Mission Trip, our Student Minister, Rev. Micah Collins, takes an in-depth look at Romans 9:33 to examine Paul's description of Jesus as a "stumbling stone of offense."  We find throughout scripture that God is always offending our sensibilities with the immensity of His love toward us.  No where is this truth more evident than in the incarnation of Christ both in our world and in our lives through his Spirit.  This teaching was presented on August 16, 2015.  This podcast is a ministry of First Baptist Church of Bogalusa, La.  Thank you for listening!

During our annual Student Day service, Rev. Micah Collins spoke about the need for obedience to God's call on our lives. Using the unquestioning call of Matthew to follow Jesus, found in Luke 5:27-28, as a starting point, Brother Micah teaches us that obedience saves us and sustains us in our walk toward Christ-likeness. Brother Micah challenges the students to be obedient to Christ but he also challenges us to reach out and be obedient in our relationships to the students and ensuring that we support and encourage them in their Christian walk.

This sermon was preached on Sunday, May 3, 2015. This podcast is part of the teaching ministry of First Baptist Church of Bogalusa, LA. Thank you for listening.

Lament into Hope

Micah Collins fills in for Pastor Whaley this week. Micah takes a look at Lamentations 3 and speaks to us about the nature of lament and hope. Micah highlights that within the Christian life lament and hope should be so unalterably entwined that the former must inevitably turn into the latter. Further, Micah teaches that the hope we must garner and treasure can only be the eternal life bought for us by our Savior Jesus Christ. This sermon was preached on Sunday, September 7, 2014. This podcast is a ministry of First Baptist Church of Bogalusa. Thank you for listening.
