When Joab murders Abner under a banner of truce, King David once again gives us a picture of the nature of God as revealed in Jesus Christ.  Pastor Greg takes us to 2 Samuel 3 to explain three very important truths.  The  love of the True King actively mourns the devastation of sin.  The True King is always and only good.  The nature of the True King desires only life for His beloved.  This teaching was presented on Sunday, April 24, 2016.  This podcast is a ministry of First Baptist Church of Bogalusa, Louisiana.  Thank you for listening!

One of the most poignant moments in David's life was at a threshing floor.  David's statement, "I will not offer to God that which costs me nothing," reveals not only his own heart of worship and sacrifice, but it is also a picture of the great sacrifice in Christ on our behalf and a call to a full and costly worship in our lives.  This teaching was presented on Sunday, April 17, 2016.  This podcast is a ministry of First Baptist Church of Bogalusa, La.  Thank you for listening!

Pastor Greg has already looked at I Samuel 16 during the Tragedy of King Saul series.  Today, he takes a look at Samuel's anointing of a new king with an eye, not toward the diminishing King Saul, but to the coming King David, himself a picture of Jesus.  In this anointing, we find a picture of an adoring God who loves us too much to leave us to our own devices.  With such an adoring love, how can we not respond to Him by giving ourselves completely to Him?  This teaching was presented in Sunday, April 3, 2016.  This podcast is a ministry of First Baptist Church of Bogalusa, La.  Thank you for listening!

On Easter Sunday, our sermon series shifts from King Saul to King David.  Where Saul was a picture of the man of the flesh, King David is a picture of the Messiah.  In this first teaching from the series, Salvation in a Sling, Pastor Greg compares David and his confrontation with Goliath to Jesus and His confrontation with death.  Like David, Jesus left His Father, refusing the weapons of the world, and utterly destroyed death and sin for all time in His battle on the cross.  This teaching was presented on Sunday, March 27, 2016.  This podcast is a ministry of First Baptist Church of Bogalusa, La.  Thank you for listening!

Continuing on our journey with King Saul, Pastor Greg takes us to Saul's unlawful sacrifice in I Samuel 13:11-14.  Through this experience we learn from Saul that God's law has value and worth in our lives.  It is not something to be swept aside or invalidated by our lethargy.  As such, the spiritual is always to be preferred to the practical.  God's work in us is always more important that our work for ourselves.  Finally, we are reminded God is always seeking people after his own heart.  This teaching was presented on Sunday, January 17, 2016.  This podcast is a ministry of First Baptist Church of Bogalusa, La.  Thank you for listening!

The people of God demanded a king in order to be like the other nations.  God gave them what they wanted in spite of their rejection of Him.  God gave them Saul, a man whose heart was not after God, but was after the flesh.  And when the time came for Saul to rise to the kingdom, the people found him hiding in the luggage.  In this new sermon series for 2016, we learn three important truths.  If you are intent on having your own way, God will allow you to have it.  True love woos the heart, rather than forcing it.  Second, we see from Saul that with God, it is always about the heart.  Saul chose to follow his flesh rather than the new heart God had given him.  Finally, we learn that we have a choice to rise to the kingdom of God, or we can hide from it like Saul did.  This teaching was given on Sunday, January 10, 2016.  This podcast is a ministry of First Baptist Church of Bogalusa, La.  Thank you for listening!
